Roots

rooted

God speaks in amazing ways. The saying is true, pictures speak a thousand words. Many thoughts came rushing to mind when I saw this picture. It’s a spectacular picture of a lone tree in a dry landscape. The aerial view shows the abundant roots that seem to have sustained this tree for years.

But I also see a Christian who is firmly connected to his Sustainer, one who cannot be moved. I see a believer who flourishes regardless of his environment. As Christians, the bible makes many analogies of us as trees that are deeply rooted in God. Through wilderness and valley experiences the Word reassures us that if we are firmly rooted in God we cannot be shaken. Being alive in God, living in unbroken fellowship with Him by being in the Word and in constant prayer, He sustains and strengthens us to be trees that bear fruit in season.
