Strong Tower

The name of the Lord is a strong tower.

– Proverbs 18:10

These are words of great reassurance in these times. The name of the Lord is a source of strength, protection and comfort. We have called on it in times of despair and in moments of urgency and the Lord has shown Himself strong on our behalf.

But the true substance of His strength, safety and comfort lie not in the monontonus or habitual use of Jesus’ name but in His nature that has been experientially inworked and wrougt out in our lives.

A name is more than a designation it is one’s honor, it signifies authority and represents one’s character. It is one’s nature. Thus it is the nature of the Lord established within that is our strong tower.

John the revelator testifies of the company of God’s elect on the spiritual mount Zion who have the Father’s name written on their foreheads (Rev. 14:1). His name inscribed on the forehead is a picture of the mind of Christ established in a renewed mind. Thus to have His nature is to possess His mind.

Today we hear and see much that wearies the heart. But those who have been putting on the nature and mind of Christ through the crucible of experience need not be troubled because the strong tower of the inner Son is being raised up in them.
